Booking Information

Ways to book

  • Online It’s easy to book online at mcmillantheatre.com. Find your performance, choose your seats, select your Ticket Type/concessions and Ticket Delivery method.  Checkout and pay securely and receive an email confirmation of your booking. Online booking is available until 1 hour before a performance start time. 
  • In person - The Box Office is open from 9am – 2pm, Monday to Friday for booking in person, ticket collection and for any assistance with bookings. Pay by card, cash or voucher. Tickets may be available to purchase at the Box Office on the night of the performance but availability cannot be guaranteed. 
  • By phone - Contact the Box Office on 01278 556677 from 10am – 2pm Monday to Friday to book by phone and for any assistance with bookings. Payment by card or gift voucher.  Answerphone messages can also be left on the Box Office number and we will call you back on the next working day. 

If you have an email address you will also receive an email confirmation of your booking when booking online, by phone or in person. 

Choosing Your Seats

You can view the seating plan and select your own seats online or contact the Box Office for advice.   

  • Stalls - The main seating bank of tiered theatre seats. Row D has level access from the ground floor. 
  • First circle - In the main body and sides of the theatre accessed via stairs or the lift from the foyer. Our accessible seating and an accessible toilet are also located in the first circle with level access via the lift to the first floor. 
  • The upper circle - Accessed via steps to the balcony. No level access. 
  • Restricted view seats – A small number of our seats have a restricted view looking across to the stage and this is stated on the seating plan when selecting your seats.  All other seats have an unrestricted view.   

Ticket Delivery

  • E-tickets - Received by email and can be shown on a smart phone, tablet or printed at home. 
  • Care of box office - Printed tickets to be collected from the Box Office on the night of the performance, or in advance during Box Office opening hours. 
  • Postal tickets - Posted within 7 days of making your booking to an address of your choice. Additional postal fee applies. You will also receive an email confirmation of your booking/payment at the point of booking. Postal tickets are not available for bookings made within 2 weeks of a performance date.

Booking Fees

  • Booking Fee - A fee of £2 will be applied to each booking (not per ticket), whether booking online or through the Box Office. You can book several shows in your basket at the same time and only pay the booking fee once. A booking fee of £2 will also be applied for any subsequent changes to your booking requested through the Box Office.
  • Care of box office - An additional fee of £0.50 will be applied per booking for printed tickets to be collected from the Box Office
  • Postal Ticket Fee - An additional fee of £2.50 will be applied per booking for postal tickets.

Your Customer Account

  • You will be asked to create a customer account when you book for the first time online or through the Box Office. This will hold a secure record of your bookings and contact preferences (they will not be passed to anyone else).
  • Use your customer account to book online, see your e-tickets, update your contact details and contact preferences. Contact the Box Office or use your email address to login and access your account online. 

Booking without an account

  • If you do not wish to provide your details for a customer account, you can book in person though the Box Office. Please note that we will not be able to let you know if there are any changes to the performance. 

Account Credit

  • If you have credit on your customer account, you will have the option to use your credit on the website at the checkout payment screen, or you can contact the box office on 01278 556677.

Join Our Mailing List

  • Opt in to our mailing lists to receive updates by email about shows and events at The McMillan Theatre or to receive our seasonal programme of events by post. Opt in or update your contact preferences online or through the Box Office. Your details will not be passed to any third parties and you can opt out at any time.  

Payment Methods

  • Card payment - Secure credit or debit card payment online, at the Box Office or by phone. No card charges apply. 
  • Vouchers/Customer Credit - Vouchers can be purchased as gifts and redeemed for use online or through the Box Office. Can be used as part payment for a booking and any balance remaining can be carried over as credit for a future booking. 
  • Cash - Can be used in person at the Box Office. Please note, we do not accept cheques except in exceptional circumstances for organisations making large group bookings. 

Reservations

  • Tickets can be reserved through the Box Office for an agreed period (usually 7 days), before confirming and making payment. This can also be used by groups who wish to make a block booking and then confirm numbers, or organisations/carers who wish to make an initial booking and then confirm and pay. Reservations which have not been confirmed and paid for will automatically be released after the agreed reservation period (usually 7 days). 

Refunds and Exchanges

  • Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase unless the event is cancelled. If an event is rescheduled or where there is a material change to the event; refunds or exchanges may be made available for a limited period of time. 
  • Exchanges may be requested through the Box Office for alternative performance of the same show, subject to availability. A booking fee will be applied per amended booking. 

Accessible Seating

  • Our accessible seating area, including removable wheelchair seating, can be booked through the Box Office – who will also advise on the availability and suitability of any seating. Wheelchair accessible seating is not currently available to book online. Concessions

The following concession tickets may be made available depending on the event:

  • Retired - Over state pension age or in receipt of a pension.
  • Family Tickets - Applied to basket if available – Select 2 standard and 2 Under 16 tickets and the discount will be applied. 
  • Under 16’s - Children over 18 months require a ticket, even if sitting on a parent’s lap. Babes in arms under 18 months admitted to family performances free of charge. Age restrictions may apply to some performances. 
  • Students – On production of a valid student card. 
  • Essential Companions/Carers - Concession available through the Box Office for those customers who require a companion or carer to attend with them in order to access the theatre. See https://www.mcmillantheatre.com/your-visit/accessibility/ for further information.
  • Wheelchair Accessible Seating - Concession available through the Box Office.

Group Bookings

  • Group reservations and bookings of more than 10 tickets can be made through the Box Office; who will be able to make a block booking and advise on the suitability of any seating required. 

Terms & Conditions

  • We regret that tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged after purchase, except when an event is cancelled. Tickets must not be resold or transferred.
  • Late comers will not be admitted to the auditorium until a suitable interval.
  • The theatre management reserves the right to refuse bookings or entry.
  • No video, recording, photography or use of mobile phones during performances unless invited from the stage.
  • Disruptive or noisy members of the audience, customers displaying aggressive or abusive behaviour towards staff or other customers will be asked to leave the performance and the theatre.
  • The theatre reserves the right to make changes to your seating/booking for health & safety reasons, or to comply with regulations or legislation (eg COVID restrictions).
